Franciscan Health Hammond and Dyer Hospitals, which offer an excellent Podiatry Residency program located just 35 minutes from downtown Chicago. With only two residents selected each year, the program offers comprehensive surgical exposure, including rearfoot reconstruction, external fixation, basic orthopedic trauma, ankle arthroscopy, diabetic limb salvage, forefoot deformity surgery, and sports medicine injuries. Podiatry is integrated into orthopedics, and clinical experience is emphasized as residents work up, diagnose, and treat patients in clinic with one-on-one time with attendings in private practice. In their free time, residents can explore the Dyer area, which offers attractions such as the Shrine of Christ’s Passion, the Midwest Training and Ice Center, the Dyer Woods Nature Preserve, and the many restaurants and shops in downtown Dyer.
