The McLaren Macomb podiatric surgery residency program has a long history as the oldest continually operating training program in the US for podiatric surgery, with notable alumni who have gone on to become program directors, deans of podiatric medical schools, and research leaders. The program emphasizes academics through weekly lectures, conferences, and interdisciplinary lectures with other departments at McLaren Macomb and Michigan State University’s Statewide Campus System. Residents exceed volume and diversity requirements with a wide variety of pathology, including a busy ER that treats over 64,000 patients annually. In Mt. Clemens, Michigan, residents can enjoy various activities, such as visiting the Anton Art Center, the Crocker House Museum, or the historic Macomb County Courthouse, exploring local parks and outdoor recreation areas, and dining at local restaurants.
