General Program/Hospital Info: University Hospitals Regional Hospital Networks
Attendings: Dr Fry, oltmann, glukh, pratt, rizzante, many more
Residents: 5
Didactics: Journal club every wednesday
OR Experience: Lots of forefoot stuff, little rearfoot especially due to a few attendings who have left the program recently. Will most likely need to do a fellowship if you really want to get good at rearfoot stuff. You will get your numbers but you do not see a lot of post op. There is 1 orthopod you rotate with .
Clinic Experience: Lots of opportunities for clinical experience. You rotate in a few private practices and you will be well versed in conservative care and practice management
Research Opportunities: Not really unless you were to start your own project
Lifestyle: Cleveland is a great city to live in and very cheap. Residents do a lot of rounding and take a lot of call. You still have time to life a fairly comfortable life tho.
Pros: Lots of forefoot stuff. You will be well versed in bread and butter podiatry cases. Pratt and Rizzante are fantastic attendings.
Cons: Not a lot of rearfoot stuff. The program has changed directors 3 times in the past 3 years so that should tell you something. Dr Frey who is the new director seems to be a little in over his head. Does not really communicate with his residents. Lots of the very experienced older attendings left the program due to their disagreements with him. The program is going through a lot of growing pains and is in need of some real direction.
Overall Conclusion: The future of this program is not looking good. There are some good attendings and you can get good training if you really are proactive. But in all honesty this program is a big time work in progress
